Kevin Wiseman serves as the music director of FBC in a bi-vocational position. He was the Jr. High Principal for 16 years at Friona, then retired from that position, and is currently an assistant principal at Clovis High School in Clovis, NM.
Kevin grew up in Sudan, Texas, until he was 13. He and his family moved to Friona when his dad bought land and began farming here. He graduated from Friona High School in 1973, and went to Angelo State University and then Wayland Baptist University, where he earned his BS degree. He married his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Murphree. He began coaching and teaching, which took him to Plainview High School, Muleshoe High School, and Snyder High School. He had earned his masters degree in mid-management at West Texas State University, and at Petersburg High School, he began his career as a principal. In 1992, an opportunity presented itself to move back home to Friona after being gone from the community for 19 years. He and his family have lived here since that time.
Kevin and Carolyn have three children who are grown. Sheila and her husband, Toby and son Jack, live in Canyon, TX. Kyle works for an insurance company in Amarillo, TX, and Brian met and married Hope in Louisville and is a student at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louiville, Kentucky.
Kevin does not have formal training in music, but has a great love for singing and leading in worship. He has always sung in church choirs in all the churches where he has been a member. He leads the praise and worship in a blended style, using hymns and choruses. He leads the adult choir and ensemble. He is a member of the Panhandle Singing Men of Texas.
