Jerry HinkleBrent reported this evening that Jerry had a "good day" meaning that all the numbers are satisfactory with the medication he is on. He described his condition as "stable". He and Lucy Beth go in to see him, read scripture to him, sing, and pray. The Lord is refreshing them as they continue to trust Him. Please keep praying! Brent said they are grateful for all the prayers.01-05-2009

We are so thankful for Toms treatment and recovery all of which was in Gods hands from the beginning. And so thankful for caring friends and family. We are home now, Sat. afternoon and expect full recovery for Tom. Once again, thank you all for your prayers and care.01-03-2009
Jerry HinkleJerry is having a lot of difficulty with the swelling of his brain. He has a large blood clot behind one of his eyes, and the pressure got so high last night, the doctor thought that surgery might be necessary to remove the clot. (It's about the size of a raquet ball - larger than a golf ball, but not the size of a tennis ball.) They want the ICP (Intercranial Pressure) numbers to be under 20 and his was 31 last night. They got very aggressive with medication, and praise the Lord, it was down to 17 this morning. Surgery would be very dangerous because some good brain tissue might be lost. Pray for the pressure to stay at a managable level and would go down. Pray for the blood clot to be absorbed by the body. Pray for strength for the family. They are totally depending on the Lord to lead and orchestrate the doctors and nurses, and to put His healing hand on Jerry. Wade is updating a blog each day, so that will probably be the most reliable source of information. It is at : www.jdhinkle.blogspot.com 01-03-2009
Jerry HinkleTuesday, Dec. 30, 2008 10:00 A.M. I just talked to Brent and he had a very good report to share about Jerry's condition. Last night the doctor spent at least 20 minutes with the family answering their questions. Brent said that the doctor's first comment was, "He is nothing but better." He said that when Jerry arrived Sunday, his consciousness level was a "3", (15 being normal), and now he is at a "10". His condition is still serious in that he is on a ventilator, is intibated and is sedated. He will probably be in ICU for two weeks. There is still bleeding into the brain, but not at a dangerous level. Some of the pressure of bleeding is coming out his ear, one of the body's natural channels of pressure relief. They will deal with his ear later. One correction from the last email report: The doctors say this was not a stroke or aneurism, and that all the damage was done from the fall. It is unknown why he fell. Lucy Beth had a good night's rest last night and was feeling much better this morning and giving God all the glory for the answered prayers. This morning Brent read to Jerry in the book of Matthew the story of Jesus in the midst of the storm. He assured his dad that Jesus was walking through all of this with them. The family thanks everyone for their prayers and asks you to continue to lift Jerry up to the Lord. 12-31-2008
Jerry HinkleWednesday, December 31, Noon We went to the hospital today and visited with Lucy Beth and Brent. They were very upbeat and greatful for your prayers. They can see God's hand in all their circumstances. They have a wonderful doctor and caring nurses. Jerry is experiencing swelling of his brain today, which was expected. They are keeping him very still, sedated, with the room darkened. He still has a tube in his skull that drains to relieve pressure. Wade has started a blog to record what is going on, so I will try to get that web address and it will be a better way to keep up first-hand with their progress. Lucy Beth and the kids are continuously bathing him in prayer and reading scripture when they are allowed to see him every few hours. Pray not only for Jerry but for the family, as this is going to be a long process. 12-31-2008
Tom HefnerWednesday, December 31, Noon Tom Hefner experienced pain in his chest and down both arms during the night last night. They finally went to the Friona hospital about 4:00 A.M. He had a blood clot in his main artery, and the doctor said if he'd waited another two or three hours he wouldn't have lived. He went by ambulance to BSA where they took care of the clot and put in two stints. He looked very good, and Jackie was in good spirits, thankful that all was successful. The doctors said he would be there for three days, (unless Tom can escape). He'd already checked to see if there was a fire escape out his window. :) It was good to hear him joking a little. Praise God for His faithfullness to Tom and Jackie and their family! 12-31-2008
Jerry HinkleMonday, Dec. 29, 10:30 A.M. If you aren't aware, Jerry was ministering as usual before the morning service. He fell and hit is head very hard on the floor and broke his nose and his cranial sinus bone, and cut the top of his head. George Frye found him on the floor, unresponsive. The ambulance was called, and he was later air-lifted to BSA in Amarillo. His condition was grave, and the doctors relieved the pressure in his brain by draining the blood around his brain. In talking with Brent this morning, I found out that they don't think this is an annurism, but bleeding from the break in the cranial sinus. He is still bleeding in his brain cavity and some from his ear. Some positive signs are that his eyes are dialating properly, when the sedation wears off, he begins to move and his gag-reflex begins to work as he tries to get rid of the tube in his throat. Nurses say these are good signs because so many that have brain injury do not respond. Brent said he is getting wonderful care. The greatest care he is getting is from our Heavenly Father who is answering our prayers. Please continue to pray for Jerry in these next critical hours and days. Pray that the bleeding will stop so that there will not be pressure. Pray for there to be no permanent damage. Pray for Lucy Beth, Brent, Wendy, and Wade that they would feel the "peace that passes all understanding." As I prayed with Lucy Beth at the Friona hospital, she thanked God for everything, and prayed that He alone would get the glory for these circumstances. 12-30-2008
